Hello!
How are you all?
This is an introduction to a series of blogs we are going to create on the reality of taking kids to Disney but also applies to - well anywhere really. We will also be covering additional needs and hidden disabilities as well.
The aim of this blog series is to let you know you're not alone! We have all been there, hanging our heads wondering what have we done? Why are they not happy in the happiest place on earth? Why are they so hell bent on ruining this amazing day? Why won't they eat the same things they have at home?
The reality is they are kids, or have other things going on that can make what appears to be a magical place very over stimulating and even a bit scary. As someone who deals with anxiety on a daily basis I can totally relate to how this, the happiest of places, can have your stomach in knots!

Disney (any theme park) is a BIG place. There are lots of new things to try and process, new sounds, new sights, new rides, different food and also lots of new people to interact with. It's a lot to deal with in a relatively short amount of time. Even a 14 night holiday isn't long enough for some to adjust. Couple all the above with possible jet lag/tiredness from travelling and you have a ticking time bomb (and that's just the adults!).
I hope we can share some of our experiences and some helpful advice and tips we have learnt on our adventures to help you on yours.
I can't promise you won't ever have a melt down on your hands again. Or that the kids will eat every meal you have carefully planned 60 days in advance. But I can reassure you that you're not the only one feeling these things and dealing with these situations, and maybe we can create a little community and share our experiences and help one another.
Please feel free to leave a comment and share your stories and pop over to our YouTube & Instagram where we have a 'The reality of kids at Disney' playlist / highlight linked at the bottom of this page.
Also take a look at our FREE downloadable activity sheets on the tab at the top of the page, iv also linked one below.
Thanks for popping by and see ya real soon!
